Elina-Maria Winther

A 1950s home in Denmark reworked with care and respect for its original architecture. Tactile materials, integrated solutions and a calm, considered approach create a natural balance between aesthetics and everyday family life.

Elina-Maria Winther, Global Head of PR and Communications at Bundgaard, lives with her husband and their two children in a house dating back to the 1950s. The house had remained largely untouched, and it was precisely this architectural starting point that drew them in. The layout has since been reworked with respect for the existing structure, opening up the spaces and creating a more fluid connection between them.

The interior reflects a considered balance between aesthetics and everyday life. Built-in storage has been integrated throughout, making it possible to maintain a sense of calm, even in a busy family setting. Materials such as steel and concrete introduce a tactile quality, while clean, architectural forms give furniture and objects a sculptural presence.

Selected pieces from Kristina Dam Studio are integrated as a natural part of the home. In the bathroom, the Curved Bench serves as both a visual element and a practical solution, while a Rotating Mirror in the entrance adds lightness and enhances the sense of space and proportion.

The kitchen-dining area acts as the heart of the home. It is where the family gathers throughout the day, and where light, materials and flexibility create a setting that accommodates both everyday life and time spent with guests.
