Sebastian has always been drawn to homes that take inspiration from galleries and museums, where carefully chosen objects are allowed to stand as works of art in their own right. That is what drew him to Kristina Dam Studio.
The Serif Relief has found its place in the kitchen, where its texture and subtle three-dimensional design add an artistic touch to the space. In the living room, the Balance Sculpture and the Attitude Sculpture create focal points with their contrasting materials and distinctive shapes.
“Each piece has its own personality, but they share an understated aesthetic,” he says. “They are more than decorative objects. They bring character, depth and individuality into my home.”
The style is minimal, timeless and curated. White is the foundation, layered with beige, brown, grey and black to create depth without taking over. “Objects have much more impact when they’re given space to stand on their own,” he explains. “Good interior design is about the balance between simplicity, character and warmth.”
In a clean, predominantly white interior, it is the materials that carry the warmth. “Wood and stone are two very different materials, yet they complement each other so beautifully.” The wood brings nature into the room, while the stone adds an architectural, almost sculptural quality.
The kitchen is the place for cooking and friends. “I love the idea of bringing people together around good food.” The living room is where the pace slows, by the fireplace with a book. “Both rooms represent different sides of my life. That’s what makes them special.”
